Good News from the Inkaterra Hotel in Machu Picchu

This is just in from our friends at the Inkaterra Hotel in Aguas Calientes – a gorgeous property and must stay for anyone going to Machu Picchu.  Nice to hear good news and to know that we can all look forward to going to Machu Picchu again very soon!

“Dear friends and clients, your calls and emails expressing concern about the heavy rains in the southern region of Peru once again confirm our good relationship, for which we thank you.

The great biodiversity that inhabits the cloud forest of Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel has not been affected by the heavy rains. The cock of the rock is now spotted continuing its beautiful courtship dances (this behaviour lasts until June); along with eight species of hummingbirds, of the eighteen which inhabit the area within the hotel. The three spectacled bears in the Inkaterra Rescue Center are continuing their normal activities.

We are pleased to report that the staff and infrastructure of Inkaterra hotels are in perfect condition. Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel and El MaPi Hotel (Machu Picchu Inn), located in Machu Picchu Pueblo, have not been affected by the Vilcanota River. Our properties are ready to receive guests, who are as welcome as always to stay in our hotels, for which we hope to have access promptly, via helicopter, when the authorities may allow so.

It is important to mention that the Vilcanota River is carrying the normal volume of water for this time of year. This helps make it possible to carry out repair work on the railway, which will be operational in about 2 months.

At present, it has been confirmed that the citadel of Machu Picchu has not been harmed because of the excellent drainage system built by the Incas. Also, conditions are normal for receiving visitors at the tourist destinations of the Sacred Valley and Cusco City.”
