Holidays equal family. Especially for those who’ve earned our way to the stage of life where we worry less about our career and more about our legacy. Here, family returns to the forefront.

For many, family and holidays are a good thing. For others it can be a challenge. As in, well, yes, wrestling wild hyenas would be, oh, I don’t know, a challenge?

I was in the latter group.

We’re Armenian and I survived grew up with five sisters. And a mother. As adults, well, holidays were a challenge in that we all had to be in the same room at the same time (see hyena reference above).

Then an amazing thing happened. I led a WOW! Travel Club trip to Armenia and I invited the whole family. My mother, who had zero interest in seeing Armenia, acquiesced and the family tagged along. The amazing part was she connected with the land and all of us reconnected with each other. We were transformed. In fact, my mother enjoyed it so much that she returned the following year on another trip to Armenia.

Travel changes you. You’ve heard us talk about this often. Because it’s true. It opens your eyes, and your heart. It changes you. It makes you bigger.

All of us wish you a transformational moment or two with family this holiday season and beyond – whether at home or 5,000 miles away!

Not sure what to get that special person in your life (you!) for Christmas or Hanukkah? How about New Zealand? It’s probably on your bucket list, and if you’re ever going to see New Zealand, this is how you should see it:

Fjordland National Park & Milford Sound. If you’ve been over there or ever researched NZ you know Milford Sound is a must-see. For most it’s a day trip in and out. We’ll go in by coach, cruise the sound (we’ll actually spend the night on the vessel), and fly out. You’ll experience Milford Sound at night and from the water, like few ever will.

Rotorua. Rotorua is on everyone’s list. The problem is it’s on everyone’s list. We’ll be tucked away from the tourists with private tours and a stay at the Treetops Estate and Lodge. Plus a Maori village, exploring thermal geysers, a forest Kiwi encounter and much more.
