Where To Next?

WOW! Travel Small Group Travel

In this world of endless wonders, where do YOU want to go?

Let us know. We’re all ears.

Many successful WOW! journeys evolved from our travelers’ requests. But we don’t go just anywhere. The destination must fit a certain profile:

  • Untrampled – We go places that are a little – or a lot – off the beaten path. Or, as we did in Ireland a few years ago, avoided the “same old, same old” (Dublin & Killarney) route and visited town and country attractions that were new experiences for everyone in the group.

We enjoyed a hurling match – along with some rabid fans – on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Galway! It was a highlight!

  • Unexpected – Ethiopia? Probably not on everyone’s Top Ten List. Don’t know much about it? That’s good! Because the surprise and delight that such an unusual destination offers is one of the best reasons to go someplace new and novel.

Women of the Hamer tribe in southern Ethiopia adorn themselves with thick plaits of ochre-colored hair, leather skirts decorated with cowries and dozens of copper bracelets fixed tightly around their arms.

  • Unpredictable – Everyone visits Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna on a morning or afternoon tour. But WE plan our visit for mid-day – when all the morning tour groups are leaving and before afternoon groups arrive. Our tour guide had never seen the place so empty!
  • “Awe”some – It’s an over-used adjective, but awe is central to the “wow” experience. Whether it’s touching a curious 40-ton whale that pops up next to your panga in Magdalena Bay; enjoying a private symphony concert as you sit on the stone seats of a 2,000-year-old amphitheater in Ephesus; or swimming in the world’s ultimate infinity pool – at the edge of Victoria Falls in Zambia – there’s always something awesome to experience on a WOW! Travel Club adventure!

Here’s a recap of where things stand for destinations on the current WOW! Travel calendar:

January 23-30, 2020: We have only one room left on our spectacular Baja adventure which includes the charming colonial town of Todos Santos, glamping on a UNESCO-protected island in the Sea of Cortez, interactions with whales (see photo above!), whale sharks, baby sea lions, etc.

I’ve mentioned this before: this experience is one of my all-time favorites. And it’s so close! But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what a long-time WOWee, Sharon Valdez, had to say about her experience:

March 5-16, 2020 – Our Morocco adventure is sold out, but we’re taking a waitlist and will add you to our Morocco Interest List. You’ll get first dibs when we offer this one again!

May 10-23, 2020 – There’s an old Armenian saying: “A guest is a gift from God”  – and you’ll be warmly welcomed like nowhere else. Gabriel Haigazian is leading another amazing adventure to Armenia next spring. He’s got a special affinity for his homeland, and has delighted our WOW travelers with each and every itinerary he’s planned. September 12-19, 2020 – There are a few travel experiences we just can’t resist repeating. Because they are THAT good. The Croatian Coast on a Private Yacht is one of them. This will be our 5th such offering, and we’re just as enthusiastic as we were the first time. The luxurious Black Swan is all ours for a week of fun, sun, sea, and delightful ports of call like Dubrovnik, Hvar, Korcula, and Split.

Again, a testimonial from a happy traveler:

September 19-26, 2020 – Add another week to your Croatia Cruise experience … or register separately for this carefully-curated Four-Country Adventure. On the day the Croatia Cruise ends in Split, we’ll be visiting Mostar and Sarajevo in Bosnia; then on to Ljubljana and Lake Bled in Slovenia; irresistible Rovinj and the Istria Peninsula of Croatia; and – to top off a magical week – a fabulous finale in Venice, Italy!

Experiences will include truffle hunting, visiting an exceptionally well-preserved Roman amphitheater in Pula, a cooking lesson, a spectacular cave complex, and countless UNESCO heritage treasures. And, as always, WOW! surprises that we cannot reveal!

Stand by for details on the Adriatic yacht adventure and 4-Country Extension.

November 3-19, 2020 – WOW! Travel Club’s inaugural journey to Ethiopia is filling up fast! We have only four rooms available.

This 15-night itinerary will be lead by Gabriel Haigazian – to the country of his birth. You’ll see both Northern & Southern Ethiopia, the Historic Route, and the fascinating tribal regions of the Omo Valley.

March/April 2021 – Details are in the works for our first-ever journey to Japan! Our visit coincides with the magical cherry blossom season – which they call “Sakura.” Starting in Tokyo, the world’s most populous metropolis, we’ll soak up its incredible entertainment, technological, architectural, cultural, and culinary attractions. Mystical Mount Fuji will provide a peaceful respite before we travel on the famous Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto, where we’ll experience the magnificent temples, shrines, palaces, and parks of this historic treasure.

An extension will be offered to Hiroshima, and on to Shikoku island, just across the Inland Sea. My brother has lived in Matsuyama for 20+ years and will show us an interesting slice of Japanese life away from the tourist track.
